Part 3:
Back to the Classroom
This section presents two activities which will take place after the trip in the classroom.
# 5 My "Favourite Reptile" Diorama
Satisfying Expectations 3.1, 3.2
Goal: This traditional project was designed to be a fun and learning experience. It also allows our more visual students, to share with the class what they have learned about the reptile of their choice. The DIORAMA, gives the student the opportunity to use a manipulative concrete approach in the description of the habitat where the reptile lives.
Part 1.
Creating our reptile's habitat
Students will transform a shoe box into a diorama that will consist of a reptile they observed on the field trip to Reptilia. Students will decorate and create a reptile environment.
Each diorama should visually portray:
Materials needed:
Assessment of this project will be based on:
*For this project we suggest to collect cardboard, boxes and other reusable objects prior to the activity. Materials should be discarded in their proper garbage/recyclable containers. This will allow our students to respect our natural resources and protect the habitat of animals.
Equity:
This project will be modified and accomodated in regards to the different needs of the students.
Ideas: Pre-cut paper; allow students to write what they did for their diorama if they can't present!
